Case study
A complex heritage‑led urban renewal project transforming a 2.6‑hectare former industrial site into a mixed‑use precinct with more than 950 residential dwellings, commercial uses, retail, and public realm.
01
Challenges
The redevelopment of the former Peter’s Ice Cream Factory into West Village required navigating heritage-listed structures, staged delivery, and complex land tenure across a 2.6-hectare inner-city site. Integrating adaptive reuse with contemporary residential and mixed-use density demanded precise boundary definition, volumetric coordination, and clear alignment between planning controls and built form outcomes.
02
MNG's role
MNG provided long-term town planning and surveying support across multiple stages of the project. Our team delivered cadastral and development surveying, boundary definition, and the preparation of volumetric and building format plans to support approvals, subdivision, and staging. Working closely with Sekisui House and the broader consultant team, we provided spatial certainty and regulatory clarity to enable confident decision-making throughout the evolution of the masterplan.

Results
West Village is now one of Brisbane’s most successful mixed-use urban renewal precincts, delivering more than 950 residences alongside retail, commercial, and community spaces — with final completion scheduled for 2027. MNG’s integrated advisory and surveying capability helped unlock development potential while preserving the site’s heritage fabric, supporting a complex transformation that balances community value, commercial outcomes, and long-term urban legacy.
